  1. Nicolas Wollak
    Nicolas Wollak, Founder and Managing Partner of Axxon Group, has some 20 years of private equity investment experience in South America. Prior to founding the Axxon Group in 2001, Mr. Wollak was a Partner at BISA, a private equity firm sponsored by the Bemberg Group, one of Latin America’s leading industrial conglomerates. Mr. Wollak joined BISA in 1994 and was responsible for leading investments in small and mid-cap companies across a wide variety of industries. During his tenure at BISA, Mr. Wollak led (or co-led) investments in the retail, chemical, fast food, logistics and paper industries, and served on the board of investee companies in these sectors.
    Prior to joining BISA, Mr. Wollak was an Executive Director of InverCapital, a London-based private merchant bank specializing in the acquisition of middle-market companies. Prior to that, he was a Senior Vice President in the private placement department of Drexel Burnham Lambert in London, where he was a senior member of the team responsible for structuring and raising capital for Drexel’s leveraged buyout activity in Europe. Mr. Wollak began his career in Latin America in 1986 as part of Citibank’s corporate banking department in Argentina and Brazil.

    As part of his activities at Axxon, Mr. Wollak typically serves on the board of Axxon’s portfolio companies, in addition to being an independent board member at Mills S.A (listed on the Bovespa), a former portfolio company. Mr. Wollak is also a former member of the board of directors of the Brazilian Private Equity Association (ABVCAP).
    Mr. Wollak received an AB degree, cum laude, from Harvard University and is fluent in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese.

  2. José Augusto de Carvalho
    Prior to joining Axxon as a Partner in 2001, Mr. Carvalho spent seven years in the mergers & acquisitions divisions of two Brazilian investment banks, Banco Pactual and Banco BBA. At both, Mr. Carvalho was responsible for deal origination, negotiation, and client relationship management. His assignments, which were primarily focused on mid-to-large companies, included buy and sell side advisory services to various local and international companies across a range of sectors, including chemicals, food products, and retailing, in transactions ranging from $50 million to $1 billion.
    Prior to his investment banking career, Mr. Carvalho held engineering and operating roles at Pirelli Cabos Brasil, one of the leading tire and cable manufacturers in Brazil and at Dacarto S/A Ind. Plásticos, one of the largest PVC compounds manufacturers in South America.

    Mr. Carvalho has served on the board of directors of Guerra, Instalarme, Lupatech, Macroplast, and Vetbrands. Mr. Carvalho holds an MBA in Finance from Duke University, an Industrial Management post-graduate degree from the University of São Paulo, and a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of São Paulo. He is fluent in English and Portuguese.

  3. Fábio Maranhão
    Prior to joining Axxon in 2002, Mr. Maranhão worked in the mergers & acquisitions division of UBS Warburg in London. Prior to UBS, Mr. Maranhão served four years as a management consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton in Brazil dealing with various industries such as consumer goods, steel, chemicals, and telecommunications. Prior to Booz Allen Hamilton, Mr. Maranhão worked in the IT consulting practice at Accenture in Brazil.

    Mr. Maranhão has served on the board of directors of Aspro, Lupatech and Vetbrands. He holds an MBA, with Distinction, from London Business School and a degree in Computer Engineering from ITA – Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica in Brazil. Mr. Maranhão holds a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) certification from the CFA Institute (U.S.). He is fluent in English and Portuguese.

  4. Antonio Pedro Bulcão
    Prior to joining Axxon in 2011, Mr. Antonio Bulcão worked for four years as an analyst at Iposeira Capital and BroadSpan Capital, both independent middle-market mergers and acquisitions advisory boutiques in Brazil. While at Iposeira and BroadSpan, Mr. Bulcão participated in mergers and acquisitions projects in excess of R$ 1 billion in various industries, where he was responsible for market research and screening, valuation models, and due diligence.

    Mr. Bulcão holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from PUC-Rio in Brazil and attended the Management Acceleration Program (MAP) at INSEAD (France) in 2013. He is fluent in English and Portuguese.

  5. Marcello Adrião
    Marcello has twenty two years of experience in Business Development, Operations and Supply Chain. Prior to joining Axxon in 2012, he worked for Exxon, Alcoa, ALL, Alpargatas, CSN and Natura. He was also international director and leader of the Operations practice at Booz Allen. Along his career, Marcello has led negotiations and projects in the USA, Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, Argentina, France, England, Sweden, Portugal, Australia, China and Japan. Since 2003 he supports Endeavor companies as a mentor and board member. In 2011 he also became a mentor at 21212, an incumbent high tech accelerator in Rio and NY. Marcello received his MSc with honors in business administration from Coppead and went to Wharton for an exchange program. He graduated cum laude as a Chemical Engineer at UFRJ. He is fluent in Portuguese and English and speaks Spanish.
  6. Marcos Novoa y Novoa
    Marcos Novoa y Novoa joined Axxon Group in 2011. He started his career in operations at Ambev. He was Director of Integration Management Consulting, a consulting company specialized in management and operations, where he worked for 10 years, developing and implementing more than 70 projects in many different industries. Marcos was also directly involved in Integration´s management team, being responsible for the Mexican´s office start-up (he lived in Mexico for 5 years) and, lately, for the Sales and Marketing Practice.

    He holds a MBA degree from the MIT and has bachelor´s degree in business administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas.

  7. Maria Isabel Lacombe
    Prior to joining Axxon in 2007, Ms. Lacombe worked as an Analyst in the Equity Research Department of UBS in Brazil, with a focus on transportation/logistics, healthcare, and special situations. Prior to UBS, Ms. Lacombe was an Analyst in the private investment group at Petros, the second largest pension fund in Brazil, where she was responsible for analyzing private investments in public companies (“PIPEs”).

    Ms. Lacombe holds a Bachelor’s degree in Production Engineering from PUC-Rio in Brazil. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the CFA Institute. Ms. Lacombe is fluent in English and Portuguese.

  8. Thiago Aranha Leite
    Mr. Leite joined Axxon Group on October 2014. Previously, he worked as an engagement manager for Booz & Company, acquiring 8 plus years of experience in strategy management consulting from developing assignments of various natures (with a focus on growth initiatives and PMI) for diverse range of sectors (from consumer goods and retail, to financial services). He has also worked as a summer intern for Tarpon Investments.

    Mr. Leite holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University) and a bachelor´s degree in Business Administration from FGV-EAESP. He is fluent in English and Portuguese.

  9. Andre Azevedo

    Mr. Azevedo joined Axxon in July 2015 as part of the investment team, with a focus on investment origination and execution.  Mr. Azevedo is a former director and partner of Banco Modal, where he was one of the main executives responsible for the Investment Banking Division.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (“PUC-RJ”) and an MBA from Instituto Brasileiro de Mercado de Capitais (“IBMEC”).

  10. Sandro Cupello

    Mr. Cupello joined Axxon in August 2015 to assume the position of Chief Financial Officer.  Mr. Cupello initiated his career at Arthur Andersen (Audit & Assurance).  Prior to joining Axxon, Mr. Cupello has held a series of responsibilities in the internal control, treasury and private equity areas of Brookfield Asset Management, where he rose to Vice-President.  Mr. Cupello holds a BA in Economics from Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro and an MBA from each of IBMEC and University of Toronto – Rotman School of Management.

  11. Renata Vieira

    Ms. Vieira joined Axxon in 2015 as fund controller. Prior to joining Axxon, Renata worked as a financial analyst in the fund control and administration department of Brookfield in Brazil for 4 years, including  REIT, hedge fund, retail fund and private equity. She also worked in Treasury, Fixed Income and Macroeconomics’ Research for 2 years at Brookfield Asset Management in Brazil. Renata Vieira holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Universidade Federal Fluminense in Brazil in 2011.

  12. Ricardo Vezo

    Ricardo Vezo joined Axxon Group in March 2016.  He has 23 years of experience in Strategy, Business Development and Management, Transformation and Organization and exposure to various industries in Brazil and internationally.  He worked for 14 years in strategic consulting, including 10 at Booz & Company (now Strategy& PwC), where he acted as director of the Communication, Media and Technology, Services and Organization, Change and Leadership practices, and also at K2 Achievements and RVZ.  For six years he was director at Grupo Globo, having led the areas of Strategy and Innovation and O Globo Business at Infoglobo and Entertainment Planning and Control at TV Globo.

    Mr. Vezo completed his MBA at Coppead/UFRJ in 1995 and graduated cum laude in Production Engineering at UFRJ in 1993.  He is fluent in Portuguese and English.
